My Grandpa was one of the most supportive people in my life. Grandpa and Grandma made it to every assembly when I had won an award, every concert and school play. Grandpa would have flowers for me after a performance.
When I was in elementary school my family would go to our churches “Kid’s Club”” program every Thursday night. There was contest for who could invite the most new people to Kid’s Club And I was determined to win. Soon we had more friends wanting to come with us than would fit in our family car.
Grandpa stepped up to drive all around town picking up all my friends so they could come with us. Some of my friends chose to ride with my grandpa instead of with me! He was so much fun and had everyone laughing the whole time!
I won that award thanks to my Grandpa. Now as an adult I have a new appreciation for the time and commitment he was willing to give. He was kind, humorous, supportive and serving. He was truly special. He will always have a special place in my heart.
